Oh no!

Sorry for the lack of updates! One of the more interesting things about blogging is the sense of the community it creates. One of the reasons why it must be so difficult to blog on this blog in comparison to the video gaming blog is our personal connections and experiences with the act of blogging.

It is really easy to underestimate the power of blogging and why it is so important to people who study new media. However, this can be more easily understood if you just study the history of web logs dating all the way back to the day of the Zines. Zines were the pre-historic precursor of the web log. Blogs work in the same way as Zines in that Zines can be about anything and reflect that of its creator. The other difference is mediums- blogs are online and zines were physical magazines. Instead, the main difference is that zines did not foster the same sense of community that blogs have the potential to do. Zines were sent out, and there was a lack of 'talk back' between the zine maker and the person receiving or reading the zine.

The community I am talking about is discussed in greater details here, at the home of our final project.
